Stokke® Lends a Hand On DIY SOS

Derbyshire was the destination for Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS team as they travelled to Chesterfield to help Lisa and Richard Watson and their young family. Their daughter Madison was born with a heart defect and a rare eating disorder that requires 24-hour care from mum Lisa.

Richard, a builder started an extension to their home but whilst working up to 18 hours a day he was unable to progress as planned and the empty shell of their dream extension and cramped living conditions has been putting the family under immense strain.

The DIY SOS team pulled out all the stops and in just ten days they turned what mum Lisa had described as her ‘Home from hell' into a beautiful sanctuary.

The Watson’s are a lovely family and we were eager to help them and the design team in any way we could. Before the team arrived Madison was sleeping in a cot in her parents room. They needed their own space as much as she did and she now has a beautiful room of her own with a Stokke® Sleepi™ that will grow and adapt to her changing needs throughout her childhood.

Madison also has a rare eating disorder and has to be fed through a tube. By creating a family dining room and encouraging the fun and interaction of family mealtimes we hoped that Madison would get more comfortable around food… and she has. Six weeks after the build was completed she is sitting on her Tripp Trapp® chair sharing meals with the rest of the family.

Good luck to the Watson family from everyone at Stokke.
If you would like to see the show for yourself, it is available on BBC iPlayer (UK only).
